I've only seen a few, but the ones i've seen I've liked. Seven Samurai is an
awsome movie. (the anime isn't bad either, but not as good as the movie) When I
was little, I watched a ton of Godzilla movies. Though most of them are just fun
monster movies (never a bad thing), the original is more of a social comentary
than purely a monster movie. I got the version that has the orginal Japanese and
the released in America versions for Christmas. Its good stuff, and I recomend
it to anyone who likes Godzilla or movies in general.
I also saw a movie called "Karate Bull Fighter" staring, i think Sunny
Chiba. It was on IFC late one night. It was much better than the title
suggested.
I'd like to see more (and more serious) Japanese films, but don't usually have
the time or drive to do the research. Any recomendations for us busy or lazy
folks?
I'd like to see the original Captain Harlock. The new one was pretty cool, and
that guy has one of the only space ships that is arguably cooler than the
Millenium Falcon.
Like a lot of people have said, American cartoons are viewed much differantly
than anime is. In America, cartoons are almost always for kids or comedy. They
are almost never serious, nor are they taken vary seriously. The US is also
currently getting away from traditional 2-D animation in favor of cheaper 3-D
animation. Nothing against 3-D, but I personally like my cartoons to be 2-D.
I'll try to avoid repeats beyond Grim Fandango. We can let it slide because
Peter McConnell is the man.
-The Monkey Island Series
-Crusader: No Remorse and No Regret (best Christmas song ever)
-Half-Life 1 & 2
-Marathon
-Dark Forces
and a special mention to the song from the end of Portal
I have looked all over and I cannot find the soundtrack to the latest Captain
Harlock series (Space Pirate Captain Herlock: The Endless Odyssey Outside
Legend) . I've looked online and in a couple import stores, but have still had
no luck. Does anyone know if one even exists? I hope so, that show had awsome
music.
All my friends tell me that FF7 is an amazing game, but I just can't get into
it. Everytime I play it i get bored really quickly. It's not the story or
reading all the text that gets me either. It's the combat. The whole menu
fighting thing just isn't fun for me. If it works for you, thats cool, but it
really takes me out of the experience and bores me to tears. Also, some of the
bad guys you right are a little goofy. I'm all for unique enemies, but I like a
justification for why they are there. I'm still confused as to why I was
randomly attacked by a giant egg who proceeded to spawn two mini eggs. And, I'm
still not sure how he attacked me with no arms or legs.
Two other games I still need to get around to playing are Sin Episodes and
Beyond Good and Evil.
I always watch the opening and ending at least once per viewing of a whole
series. If I really like the song or the opeing animation I may watch it
everytime and on rare ocasions, sing along.
Haruko (FLCL)
Motoko Kusinagi (Ghost in the Shell)
Misato Katsuragi (Evangelion)
Twilight Suzuka (Outlaw Star)

In this order
1. Heero Yuy from Gundam Wing
2. Ed from Full Metal Alchemist
3. Vash the Stampede from Trigun
I have had some music from Sonic the Hedgehog stuck in my head for almost a week.

I also wish I had time to play Prey. Sure the story looked goofy and full of holes, but the environments and level design looked amazing.

If price was no obstacle, I'd go with Fuse from Jin-Roh. That would make an awsome costume.
